Crew Chiefs To Drive In Thunder Roadster Race ???
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to actually see a crew chief drive a racecar ??? Well, you will have a chance to see just that as these guys climb down off the Pit Box and strap into the racecar. It ought to be a hoot !!!
The Crew Chiefs-turned=drivers will drive in a 30 minute racing program that includes two qualifying heats and a feature race and this will all be televised by the SPEED Channel as part of the Pre-Race Festivities to the Nextel All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 19th.
Crew Chiefs expected to race this event are: Alan Gustafson (Kyle Busch), Billy Wilburn (Kyle Petty), Chad Knaus (Jimmie Johnson), Darin Grubb (Casey Mears), Gil Martin (Clint Bowyer), SPEED Channel's Jeff Hammond (No. 11), and Larry McReynolds (No. 28), Jimmy Elledge (Reed Sorenson), Kevin Manion (Martin Truex, Jr.), Paul Andrews (Bobby Labonte), Scott Miller (Jeff Burton), Steve Lane (David Stremme), Steve Latarte (Jeff Gordon), Todd Berrier (Kevin Harvick) and Tony Eury, Jr. (Dale Earnhardt, Jr.).

Programing Changes For Phoenix International Raceway Action This Weekend
Nextel Cup Series Qualifying is scheduled for Thursday, April 19th at 8 p.m. Eastern. On the SPEED Channel. GO Michael Waltrip Racing !!!
Busch Series Qualifying is scheduled for Friday, April 20th at 5:30 p.m. Eastern. On the SPEED Channel. GO David Reutimann !!!
The Busch Series Race "Bashas Supermarkets 200" will air on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.

NASCAR Officials Grade COT
The two top dogs of NASCAR competition gave the Car of Tomorrow A- minus for show performance and a solid B for mechanical adaptation in it's debut at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Matt Kenseth was still under the weather from the fumes inside his cockpit during the race . Brian Vickers suffered second degree burns to his feet from a break in the exhaust pipe. He was able to race at Martinsville, however, he failed to qualify on time. As Mikey would say, "Welcome to my world".
When asked to grade the new design in it's first race, Robin Pemberton said, "I give it an A- minus", based on his view from the official's tower at Bristol.
"I'd give it a good, solid B. I'd want to incorporate the garage operations, the inspection process - - - the entire weekend more than just the race," NASCAR Cup director, John Darby said.
Craftsman Truck Series
Mike Skinner started on the pole and stayed out front virtually all day at Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 250, leading all but seven of the 253 laps to win his third consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Skinner, winning for the 22nd time in his career, set a series record by leading 246 laps. Way to go Mike !!! Johnny Benson Finished with a Top 10 and Kenny Schrader came in 12th. Way to go guys !!!
Is There A Seat Open In NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series Already ? ? ?
Kyle Petty, 46, will step away from the family's race car in June to join the broadcasting crew at TNT. Kyle replaces the beloved Benny Parsons in the booth and will add his commentary to five of TNT's six races. He still hasn't found a replacement for the #45 Dodge.
Kyle has been watching the races from behind the steering wheel for 28 years now, I'm sure he will have a different perspective by sitting in the broadcast booth.
Has The Honeymoon Ended For "Cisco" ? ? ?
Sunday at Martinsville the colombian rookie finished a decent 16th, while at the same time managing to tick off Tony Raines, who was slammed into the wall just as the #42 Havoline Dodge Avenger "rolled by" clipping Raines' car in the left rear.
"I don't know how he's thinking, or what his thinking is," Raines said. "Juan's supporter are always going think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread and I ain't s***, but I don't come out here to wreck people. I didn't wreck him; he shouldn't have wrecked me."
COT Gets Key Endorsement ! ! !
The King of NASCAR, Richard Petty, has become the biggest fan of the safety project. "I think it's about time," Petty said. "We've been running basically the same car since 1981 and all they've done is refine it and push it around and make it look different because they're moving the tops and bottoms. The big deal I think is safety. The car has got to be a lot safer than the one we had before. You're never going to make it 100 percent safe, but you put safety in it and then you just throw the car around it."
Hopefully, the car is not slick, there's not as much downforce, and it's not as aerodynamic as what used to be or what was. I think it'll make it better. The drivers are going to have to get up and do a little driving from time to time now. You hear them complaining about the car doesn't handel good and the tracks are rough. They want smooth tracks. I said, 'Heck, if the cars drove perfect and the tracks were perfect I'd still be driving." Hey Richard, I hear that there is a seat becoming available over there at Petty Enterprises. Does your firesuit still fit ??? Or is it one of them deals like ole DW, who wants to drive the #99 Aaron's Dream Machine in the worst way and his wife, Stevie and Mikey won't let him, huh ???

What Was He Thinking ???
Brian Vickers suffered second degree burns to his feet when an exhaust pipe broke half way through the Food City 500 race at Bristol Motor Speedway last Sunday. Team officials say he will be prepared to race this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. "We think that a piece of the tail pipe came off, so heat was blowing directly onto the floorboard," Vickers said. "The guys tried to put some lining in the car to protect my feet, but it didn't really help that much. I basically had to run the whole race with my feet burning that was painful." Brian said.
I have an idea Brian, why didn't you get out of the car and call it a day, rather than suffering second degree burns ??? I know, I know, to get a race car driver out of the racecar during a race is tougher than pulling teeth out of his head at 200 mph !!!
Problems With Car Of Tomorrow/Today ???
NASCAR officials are scrambling to solve a couple of ptetntially serious issues with the COT. Denny Hamlin and several others complained about the unusual amount of carbon monoxide in their system after Sunday's race. Some teams had issues with the protective foam on the right side door overheating, melting and producing toxic fumes. Some had springs that failed for on apparent reason, which may have been the reason for Biffle's car being too low during post-race inspection. There were no fines or penalties issued to the #16 machine. Yes, Larry McReynolds you were right, but please, I don't want to hear how right you were for the rest of the weekend at Martinsville !!!
NASCAR officials plan to talk to crew chiefs before they arrive at Martinsville on Friday to discuss solutions to these issues. They will look at adjusting the tolerances for minumum height until it is determined what makes the car settle. They will also suggest that teams use a thicker exhaust pipe after determining those that had exhaust system failures used a thinner pipe to conserve weight.
NASCAR officials have already talked to Roush Fenway Racing about putting a heat shield over the pipe near the right door and notching the foam highter around the pipe to keep heat from compromising it. What a shock - - - NASCAR playing nice ??? Do they realize how many fans are steamed with thier recent antics and mistakes made by them recently ??? Yeah, right !!!
The DuPont Dummy said they used more brakes than normal in last week's car of tomorrow debut, Martinsville is harder on a stock car's brakes than Bristol so be expecting a lot more whinning. I guess I better buy some extra cheese. I wonder what he'll have to say after they repave the track at Bristol, he never seems to run out of items to complain about. Soon he will be able to complain about getting up at 2 AM with his daughter - - - Right DaddyO ??? I suggest you complain to her, maybe she'll listen ???
What's up with the critical comments made by the Car of Tomorrow Inaugural Race Winner, "Shrub" Busch ???
I think that young man needs an attitude adjustment and a lesson in respect. Enough said.
As for Casey Mears starting off slow at Hendricks Motor Sports, I say what a surprise that is - - - I'm surprised that they even gave him a car to compete with since everything worth anything goes to "The Golden Boys". I have said all along that Casey should not have gone there, why did he think Brian was leaving ???

There's an article written by Tim Tuttle from SI.com dated March 29th, Mr. Tuttle believes that Michael Waltrip should, and I quote, "Fire Himself" ? ? ? Where do these sports writers get off spewing this non-sense all over the Internet ??? No, it's not just Mr. Tuttle, either, but I think they are shooting themselves in the foot and making a lot of fans angry, after all Michael Waltrip and all his fans, along with the rest of the world KNOW that we are having hard times trying to get a brand new team up and running with a car manufacturer that is new to Nextel Cup, we don't need to be reminded every single day of the week !!! They should spend their energy writing something good and uplifting and cut the negative energy stuff. Just my opinion, but then what do I know ???
I am an avid NASCAR fan, who just so happens to be Michael's #1 Fan. Since when have I lost my right to support whomever I want and, more importantly, when has Michael Waltrip lost his right to participate and compete ??? I love all of these sports writers and armchair quarterbacks that try to say that Michael should "fire himself". I for one believe that Michael has just as much right to participate and compete as the next guy (or gal) and I have the right and the privillege and the honor of supporting him 1000%
I believe that the real issues for the Michael bashings are two fold: Number one is the fact that Michael is a Christian and makes no bones about it. The second reason is the hatred for TOYOTA coming into NASCAR. I cannot believe the hate that I have seen because of this, it boggles the mind !!! But as my Driver would say, "Get over it." !!! Because TOYOTA is here to stay, just like the Car of Today is here to stay, so deal with it !!!
In his article Mr. Tuttle mentions drivers that he feels Michael could find "at mid-season" to take his place, first of all since when are we in "mid-season" with only five races run so far ??? Anyway, here's his list of possible replacement drivers: Mike Wallace, John Andretti, Mike Skinner or Bill Elliott, EXCUSE me but Michael is not looking for a driver for the #55 NAPA Auto Parts TOYOTA Camry, much less a driver to qualify the above mentioned TOYOTA, which Michael has mentioned on Inside Nextel Cup, what part of that don't you understand Mr. Tuttle ???

Busch Series News - - - February 2nd Edition
Busch Series Ride Sharing
Evernham Motorsports officials say Elliott Sadler, Scott Riggs and Kasey Kahne will share driver duties for the team's #9 Busch Series Dodge, which will be sponsored by Unilever.
Unilever brands include: Klondike Ice Cream, Ragu Pasta Sauce, Hellman's Mayonnaise, Shedd's Spread Country Crock Spreads, Lawry's seasoning blends and marinades, Lipton Teas, Wisk laundry detergent, Wishbone Salad Dressing and Slim-Fast Weight Control products. I am providing you this list, just in case you are like I am when it comes to supporting our NASCAR sponsors.
Anyway, Kahne will be the primary driver and the three drivers will compete in 23 Busch Series races this season. I'm just here to provide you with the news, personally I think they should take the Cup Series drivers out of the Busch Series and let that series be the "training ground" it was meant to be. Just my humble opinion.
Busch Series Test In Las Vegas
Sam Hornish, Jr. will return to the track next week to test the #12 Busch Series Dodge for Penske Racing. You may remember that Hornish, Jr. last drove at LVMS in 2000 and finished third in the Vegas Indy 300 Indy Racing League event.
Teammate Kurt Busch will drive the car Monday, with Hornish scheduled to drive Tuesday in the second preseason test for the Busch Series.
"I'm excited to test at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," Hornish said. "Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman tested their Nextel Cup cars last week, and as I understand it, the changes made to the track have made it especially fast. I have not turned a lap at LVMS in a stock car, but having experienced driver like Kurt Busch will certainly help my education."
Twenty four current full-time Nextel Cup drivers are slated to show up and test next week, including defending Champ Kevin Harvick and defending Vegas Busch winner Kasey Kahne. All in all, there will be 45 drivers scheduled to test the newly reconfigured track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. So much for my opinion regarding the Cup Series drivers, eh ? ? ?
Crocker Not Done ? ? ?
Erin is scaling back on her Busch Series career, rumor has it that she may even change teams according to team owner Ray Evernham. Needless to say her goals are being redirected, but the primary mission is the same: Become the best female driver in the sport's history. The plan for 2007 is to include 12 ARCA races and 4 Busch Series races. I think she should stay home and take care of their child and forget about her dreams prior to meeting Mr. Ray Evernham.
Busch Series Television Schedule
Six races will be televised on ABC this season, a schedule released by ABC/ESPN shows. The other 29 races will be on ESPN2, including the first three events of the year, in case you need help, they are Daytona, California and Mexico. The six ABC races, which will be broadcast with the ESPN2 crew, will be Las Vegas (March 10), Atlanta (March 17), Bristol (March 24), Talladega (April 28), New Hampshire (June 30), and Chicago (July 14). Did you get all of that ? ? ? There will be a pop-quiz next week ! ! !
ESPN to use Sportsvision Transmitters for Busch Series races: ESPN2 will be home for the NASCAR Busch Series all season, with the exception of those races I've already mentioned above. As part of ESPN's commitment to the series, the network will utilize the same standards of production for the NASCAR Busch Series as it will for telecasts of the final 17 NASCAR Nextel Cup races of 2007. In addition to 100 percent use of High Definition cameras, ESPN will also produce NASCAR's top two series with Sportsvision technology. Sportsvision utilizes satellite technology to create on-screen "pointers" to designate specific cars within a pack, helping viewers distinguish their favorite driver's car, lead-lap cars and produces telemetry from the race cars to show speeds, braking and other compelling information to viewers. All cars in the race will carry Sportsvision transmitters. Hmmmm, Iwonder if the car owners have to pay for this equipment, we are a brand new start up team and probably don't have a lot of money in the budget for this extra equipment ! ! !
Hamilton Jr. Happy To Be Back With Team Rensi
Bobby Hamilton, Jr., 29, was back in a Busch Series car for the Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder at Daytona for the first time in three years and could not stop bubbling about the experience.

Busch Series Ride Sharing
Evernham Motorsports officials say Elliott Sadler, Scott Riggs and Kasey Kahne will share driver duties for the team's #9 Busch Series Dodge, which will be sponsored by Unilever.
Unilever brands include: Klondike Ice Cream, Ragu Pasta Sauce, Hellman's Mayonnaise, Shedd's Spread Country Crock Spreads, Lawry's seasoning blends and marinades, Lipton Teas, Wisk laundry detergent, Wishbone Salad Dressing and Slim-Fast Weight Control products. I am providing you this list, just in case you are like I am when it comes to supporting our NASCAR sponsors.
Anyway, Kahne will be the primary driver and the three drivers will compete in 23 Busch Series races this season. I'm just here to provide you with the news, personally I think they should take the Cup Series drivers out of the Busch Series and let that series be the "training ground" it was meant to be. Just my humble opinion.
Busch Series Test In Las Vegas
Sam Hornish, Jr. will return to the track next week to test the #12 Busch Series Dodge for Penske Racing. You may remember that Hornish, Jr. last drove at LVMS in 2000 and finished third in the Vegas Indy 300 Indy Racing League event.
Teammate Kurt Busch will drive the car Monday, with Hornish scheduled to drive Tuesday in the second preseason test for the Busch Series.
"I'm excited to test at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," Hornish said. "Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman tested their Nextel Cup cars last week, and as I understand it, the changes made to the track have made it especially fast. I have not turned a lap at LVMS in a stock car, but having experienced driver like Kurt Busch will certainly help my education."
Twenty four current full-time Nextel Cup drivers are slated to show up and test next week, including defending Champ Kevin Harvick and defending Vegas Busch winner Kasey Kahne. All in all, there will be 45 drivers scheduled to test the newly reconfigured track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. So much for my opinion regarding the Cup Series drivers, eh ? ? ?
Crocker Not Done ? ? ?
Erin is scaling back on her Busch Series career, rumor has it that she may even change teams according to team owner Ray Evernham. Needless to say her goals are being redirected, but the primary mission is the same: Become the best female driver in the sport's history. The plan for 2007 is to include 12 ARCA races and 4 Busch Series races. I think she should stay home and take care of their child and forget about her dreams prior to meeting Mr. Ray Evernham.
Busch Series Television Schedule
Six races will be televised on ABC this season, a schedule released by ABC/ESPN shows. The other 29 races will be on ESPN2, including the first three events of the year, in case you need help, they are Daytona, California and Mexico. The six ABC races, which will be broadcast with the ESPN2 crew, will be Las Vegas (March 10), Atlanta (March 17), Bristol (March 24), Talladega (April 28), New Hampshire (June 30), and Chicago (July 14). Did you get all of that ? ? ? There will be a pop-quiz next week ! ! !
ESPN to use Sportsvision Transmitters for Busch Series races: ESPN2 will be home for the NASCAR Busch Series all season, with the exception of those races I've already mentioned above. As part of ESPN's commitment to the series, the network will utilize the same standards of production for the NASCAR Busch Series as it will for telecasts of the final 17 NASCAR Nextel Cup races of 2007. In addition to 100 percent use of High Definition cameras, ESPN will also produce NASCAR's top two series with Sportsvision technology. Sportsvision utilizes satellite technology to create on-screen "pointers" to designate specific cars within a pack, helping viewers distinguish their favorite driver's car, lead-lap cars and produces telemetry from the race cars to show speeds, braking and other compelling information to viewers. All cars in the race will carry Sportsvision transmitters. Hmmmm, Iwonder if the car owners have to pay for this equipment, we are a brand new start up team and probably don't have a lot of money in the budget for this extra equipment ! ! !
Hamilton Jr. Happy To Be Back With Team Rensi
Bobby Hamilton, Jr., 29, was back in a Busch Series car for the Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder at Daytona for the first time in three years and could not stop bubbling about the experience.

NASCAR News - - February 2nd Edition
Safety Improvements Since February 2001
1. Softer SAFER walls.
2. The HANS Device (head-and-neck restraint).
3. The improved driver seats.
4. The better roll-bar padding. (Which is something that is NOT to be thrown out the window in order to cause a caution flag).
5.. The heftier seat belts.
6. The crash-impact data recorder.
The drivers who have benefited from these improvements include: Greg Biffle, Michael Waltrip, Kyle Petty, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton. I am looking forward to seeing the benefits of the COT this season !!! Kudos to NASCAR for making these necessary changes and for saving lives.

NASCAR Decides To Change Qualifying Provisional
There has previously been no limit to how many times a past Cup Champion could use the provisional to ensure a spot in the field each week.
Now, a driver can only use the provisional six times in a year, AND the limit also applies to the ENTIRE TEAM.
"As NASCAR seeks to place more emphasis on competition, we have decided the time is right to limit the number of provisionals allowed." said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's competition director. "We believe this revision brings the provisional policy in line with the continued growth of the sport." Am I missing something, I don't understand what the provisional provision has to do with the growth of our sport ? ? ?
Speeds Soar At Vegas Test
Now I ask you, what's a track owner supposed to do? Drivers and Fans alike aren't happy with a track, so the track owner makes improvements, and spends millions of dollars, I might add. Only to have Tony Stewart and other drivers and fans complain that its too fast. I have never heard a race car driver complain that the track was TOO FAST, but I guess there's a first time for everything !!! I can understand the safety issues, but if you have that much concern simply don't race at the Vegas track.
Here's what MY driver, veteran Michael Waltrip had to say about the Vegas track. "I don't know why people complain a bit. We're race car drivers for gosh sake, so the cars just go fast. It's not the track's fault. The cars would be easier to slow down that build a track that isn't fun for the fans to watch. That's my take."
By the way, among the Toyota drivers, Michael Waltrip was quickest at 186.162 mph ! ! ! Way to go Mikey ! ! !
NASCAR Seeks To Replace Busch As Sponsor
Just in case you happen to have an extra $30 million laying around in a shoe box at your house, NASCAR is seeking a sponsor for its second series. Sources close to Mr. Brian France say that he can be reached at 1-800- GOT BIG BUCKS. There is no clear front-runner at this point but they do admit that previously speculated suitors Subway, Samsung and Wal-Mart are accurate. I don't know, some how "The Wal-Mart Series" doesn't sound off any bells for me.
Craftsman Truck Series
New Sponsor, New Teammate for Rick Crawford. International Truck and Engine Corp. has signed on as the sponsor for the Circle Bar Racing team, however this investment goes beyond a paint scheme on the truck, for the first time, a teammate in his pursuit of a season championship. Can this be a good thing Rick? While Crawford will drive one Circle Bar Racing entry under the banner of Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Truck, David Star has joined the race team to drive the #10 Maxx Force International Diesel Power truck. You might remember that International's Power Stroke Diesel previously sponsored driver Terry Cook.
"It's pretty exciting and I think it's going to turn out to be bigger than we think it is," Crawford said. "Circle Bar Racing is excited about it. It's the future of Circle Bar Racing to sign this sponsorship package and to have two trucks with Ford factory support." Well, I guess Rick answered my question, eh ???

NASCAR Mandates Seat Belt Changes
There was an announcement made on Wednesday, January 10th, that NASCAR made a huge change for the safety of all drivers in their Top Three series in that they have to wear the six-point belt harness instead of the old five-point belt harness. However, some drivers already use the five-point harness as a seven-point belt by adding two extra straps to the contraption. Instead, NASCAR's safety expert Steve Peterson and two of General Motors' safety personnel stepped in and felt that the six-point harness is the way to go when it comes to preventing major injuries. Personally, I don't care whether there are five-point or seven-points to the contraption, as long as there is as much safety as possible involved, and somehow I have a feeling that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. would agree with me because he once said that if it involved more safety - - bring it on or bring it to his attention, I strongly agree !!!
Testing At Daytona International Speedway
"We brought in a different car for our other car today. It is a little different build. I'm excited to see what it will do in the draft. We'll get out this afternoon and get a lot more. I've been pleased with what I see so far." Jarrett said. He is swapping his Robert Yates Racing Ford for one of the brand new Toyotas. Michael Waltrip will use Toyota exclusively for his new team, of which Dale Jarrett is an integral part of that team. Obviously I support the entire team of Drivers, Michael Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, David Reutimann, Josh Wise and whomever else may come onboard !!!
Will a Toyota win a race in it's first Nextel Cup season? Dale Jarrett says that's not even the right question.
"I don't think winning one race is the question," Jarrett said. "I think it's a question of how many we win. I don't think there's any doubt we will win, the question is whether each of the teams will be involved, and I think they will be."
"The goal right now is to make sure each car is in the race," Jarrett said, Speaking for the three-car Waltrip team but saying what most certainly applies to all of the Camry fleet. "That's something we're going to have to work hard on the first eight to ten races to make sure to get the cars in the Top 35 and keep them there." But Jarrett said he believes that by season's end someone in a Camry could be a contender for more than just an occasional win. Matt Borland, one of the sports top Crew Chiefs will lead Jarrett's team. David Hyder will try to reverse Waltrip's 2006 struggles. While Frank Kerr will team up woth Reutimann as he moves up from the Craftsman Truck Series.
Ground Breaking For NASCAR's Hall of Fame
The ground breaking ceremony will take place on January 25th at 3 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
The ceremony will take place at the final stop on the annual NASCAR Nextel Cup Media Tour presented by The Lowe's Motor Speedway. As part of the Hall of Fame plan, a NASCAR Office Plaza Tower will also be constructed on the Hall of Fame site that runs by Stonewall Street and Caldwell Street.
Motor Racing Network pit reporter and one of Duke Power's vice presidents, Winston Kelley will serve as executive director of the Hall of Fame. With a cost of $155 million, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is slated to be open in the fall of 2009.
DEI Hires Kerry Earnhardt
Kerry will join DEI, as a full-time employee next week, serving as a liaison between the Nextel Cup and Busch programs and driving a handful of races. "Teresa and Richie have been talking to me about coming there for several years." Kerry said of team owner/stepmother Teresa Earnhardt and director of motorsports Richie Gilmore. "I've been thinking about the company a lot in my head. It's hard to give up driving. Now, I've come to a point where I realize that doing the things I'm doing is not doing me any good, just riding around and not having any decent finishes." Kerry also said, "I've got four kids, a baby 3 1/2 years old." "There have been several times when we've blown a right-front tire or got caught up in somebody else's accident and I've taken some pretty hard licks. I've started thinking more about my life than my career."
I personally think that there is a lot more to the story than we are being lead to believe. I for one plan to hang around to see how this drama unfolds, will Dale Jr. get what he is after from DEI ??? Is he looking to "take over DEI ??? Is there any possibility that he may pack up and head for Richard Childress Racing ??? What would Kevin Harvick have to say about that, if anything???
Voda Signs With SPEED
SPEED officials say veteran sports journalist Krista Voda has signed a multi-year contract that will include hosting the network's pre-race show for all of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races in 2007.
Krista alwo recently signed with Fox Sports as a pit reporter for the network's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series races in 2007.
"Krista is a tremendous talent with great passion for her work," said Frank Wilson SPEED vice president of productions. "She understands racing, knows the players and has a great deal of experience and credibility covering NASCAR and all forms of racing."
Voda began her work in NASCAR in 2002 as a reporter and host for "Totally NASCAR". Since then, Krista has worked on multiple programs for both SPEET and Fox Sports.
I say, "You go, Girlfriend !!!" As the NASCARQueen, I say "This ones for the girls !!!".
Off-Season Appearances
Elliott "The Former Candy Man" Sadler reports that he had a great hunting season and will be enlarging his kennels to accomodate 50 to 60 dogs. He now has 36, that he dearly loves. He's optimistic about making the Chase this season. Since Elliott is my second most favorite driver, I suddenly have this overwhelming urge to become a puppy !!! Shhhhh, PLEASE, don't tell Mikey !!!
Tony "Smoke" Stewart spent time on his radio show and has once again been an intricate part of the most entertaining production effort. For a guy that did not particularly fancy the media, he certainly has become an asset to thier ranks. Tony is open, well spoken and fun to listen to !!!
Kasey Kahne, J.J. Yeley and Tony Stewart participated in the Chili Bowl races at the dirt track in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I believe it was. Going back to your roots, Boys ??? As some of you may know, I also follow The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Races. They are said to be "The Greatest Show On Dirt", and what's a little mud in your beer, amongst friends, anyway???

NASCAR Nextel Cup Awards Banquet
Did anyone besides me spend three valuable hours of your time watching this Annual Nextel Cup Awards Banquet? To say that it was a HUGE disappointment is the understatement of the century. The first let down was the fact that Bill Weber was Master of Ceremonies, as if we don't see WAY TOO MUCH OF HIM during the regular season, then, where oh where did they get that so called comedian??? He was a flop last year and definately was again this year. I think Michael Waltrip and Kenny Schrader would have gotten more laughs out of the crowd, at least they are funny ! ! ! Maybe I'll e-mail Bill France or Brian France or whomever and make that very suggestion. What do you think???
Victory Junction Run, Half Marathon and 4.5k
Over 800 runners participated in the inaugural run. The Victory Junction Gang Camp teamed up with John "The Penguin" Bingham, Runners World Columnist and founder of John Bingham Racing for the inaugural Victory Junction Run on Sunday December 3rd.
"When we set out to do this event, we hoped to get 500 participants," said Kyle Petty, NASCAR Driver and founder of Victory Junction Gang Camp. "To have 800 participants come out for the run Victory Junction Run is hugely successful. I am estatic and can't wait to have an even larger event next year. More than $65,000 was raised from the run; whichis a great demonstration of people's passion to help enhance the experience for the children that visit the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
NASCAR's Champ Disabled In The Off-Season ? ? ?
Jimmie Johnson broke his left wrist Friday in a golf tournament when he fell out of a golf cart in Lacanto, FL. This will prevent him from driving for at least four weeks. The injury was to his non-shifting hand so he should be able to participate in pre-season testing at Daytona International Speedway next month. I guess my question would be: How do you fall out of a golf cart??? I guess I wasn't aware of how dangerous golfing could be for a person, especially a tough NASCAR Driver.
In addition, Johnson will obviously not be able to compete in the Race of Champions Nations Cup at the Stade de France in Paris next weekend, but never fear Johnson will still make the trip to Paris as a consultant for the Team USA. Life really gets rough for some NASCAR drivers, doesn't it???
Ricky Rudd To RYR
After nearly a year off from NASCAR Nextel Cup racing, Rudd and Robert Yates have agreed to join forces once again in what could prove to be more than just a nostalgic joyride down memory lane. Rudd, 50, replaces Dale Jarrett, his former teammate at RYR for three seasons starting in 2000. Jarrett has since joined Michael Waltrip Racing but Butch Hylton will continue in his role as the Yates' team's Crew Chief. It is most likely that Rudd will revive up his former car number - - - the 28 - - - one of the most popular numbers in NASCAR. The candy giant Mars, which already sopnsors Yates' Number 38 M&M Ford, also will back Rudd's effort. I personally wish Ricky Rudd the best for the 2007 Season. I guess I have a soft spot for the veterans, it could have something to do with my age ! ! !
Chex Most Popular Driver Award
Am I the only one confused by this award. Last year the folks at Chex were extremely late in announcing the winner. In fact I heard through the "grapevine" that Michael Waltrip had won the award.
Then a day or so ago I happen to notice that the posted the official winner of the 2006 Award, that of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. , they say for the fourth consecutive year. So how can that be if Michael Waltrip won last year. I realize that this is not a huge deal - - - but you would think that they could get a simple contest done right, wouldn't you??? I don't care who wins - - - obviously the driver with the most votes wins - - - there's no rocket surgery here. I find this interesting to say the least.
